Application Updates

Update Your ESTA Application Details

Travel plans evolve, and your authorization should reflect your current arrangements. Our modification service lets you revise qualifying fields on an existing ESTA without starting from scratch.

Why Keeping Your ESTA Current Matters

An approved ESTA is electronically linked to your passport and remains valid for two years. However, the travel-specific details you provided during the original application — such as your accommodation address, flight itinerary, and U.S. point of contact — may change between trips.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recommends updating your ESTA before each journey to ensure the information on file accurately reflects your current travel plans. Outdated details can lead to questions at the port of entry, potentially causing delays during the admissions process.

Modifications through our platform are processed instantly at no additional charge. Once you authenticate your existing application, the eligible fields become editable, and changes take effect the moment you confirm them.

Our system validates each update in real time, flagging any entries that could cause processing issues before they are saved. This layer of protection helps maintain the integrity of your authorization and reduces the risk of complications during travel.

Fields Available for Modification

The following data points can be revised on your current ESTA without submitting a fresh application:

  • Email address associated with the application
  • Telephone and secondary contact numbers
  • U.S. point of contact name, address, and phone
  • Travel itinerary including flight numbers and dates
  • Accommodation address and city within the U.S.
  • Current employer name and workplace address

Fields Requiring a New Application

Alterations to the following personal identifiers necessitate a completely new ESTA submission:

  • Legal name (first, middle, or surname)
  • Date of birth or gender designation
  • Country of citizenship or nationality
  • Passport number, issuance, or expiration dates
  • Responses to eligibility and security questions

Essential Information About ESTA Modifications

No Cost for Updates

All modifications to eligible fields are processed free of charge, regardless of how many times you need to update your information before or between trips.

New Passport Requires New ESTA

If you renew or replace your passport for any reason, your existing ESTA becomes invalid. A new application must be submitted with your new passport details.

Update Before Every Trip

CBP recommends refreshing your travel itinerary and U.S. contact information before each visit, even if your accommodation is the same as a previous trip.

Changes Are Immediate

Unlike a new application, modifications do not go through a re-approval process. Updated information is reflected in the authorization system instantly upon confirmation.

Eligibility Answers Are Permanent

Once submitted, your responses to the eligibility and background screening questions cannot be altered. If your circumstances have changed, a new application is necessary.

Assistance Available Around the Clock

If you are unsure whether your situation requires a modification or a new application, our support team can assess your circumstances and recommend the appropriate course of action.

Modification Questions Answered

How many times can I modify my ESTA?

There is no limit to the number of times you can update eligible fields on your ESTA. You are encouraged to make updates as often as your travel plans change to keep your authorization current.

Will modifying my ESTA restart the approval process?

No. Modifications to permitted fields are processed instantly and do not trigger a new review or approval cycle. Your existing authorization status remains unchanged.

I got a new passport. Can I just update the number?

Unfortunately, passport details are among the locked fields. A new passport invalidates your current ESTA entirely, and you must submit a brand-new application with your updated passport information.

Can I change my name after marriage?

Name changes require a new ESTA application. If your legal name has changed due to marriage, divorce, or court order, submit a fresh application reflecting your new identity documents.

What if I don't know my U.S. address yet?

You can enter preliminary information and update it later once your accommodation is confirmed. We recommend finalizing this detail at least 72 hours before departure.

Is there a deadline for making modifications?

You can modify your ESTA at any point during its validity period. However, we recommend making changes well before your departure date to allow time for verification.

Need a Fresh ESTA Application Instead?

If your situation requires a new application rather than a modification, our guided process takes just 10 minutes.
